Job Description
The College of Southern Nevada, Division of Workforce and Economic Development, seeks a dynamic and engaging part-time instructor to teach Industrial Mechanical Systems courses. The successful candidate will have a strong theoretical and practical understanding of industrial mechanical systems principles and be passionate about sharing their knowledge with students pursuing careers in this exciting field. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the educational and professional development of a diverse student population within our vibrant and growing community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary teaching areas are in Industrial Mechanical Systems such as: Mechanical drive systems, power transmission systems, fasteners, belts, chains, couplings, shafts, bearings, lubrication, among others.
- Deliver high-quality instruction utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles, including lectures, labs, and hands-on activities.
- Develop and update curriculum, course materials, and assessments to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.
- Create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters student success.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their academic performance.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information.
- Adhere to all College policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay abreast of current trends and technologies in the field of Mechanical Systems.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall quality of the Industrial Mechanical Systems program.
- Be available to teach courses during the day, evening, or weekend, depending on scheduling needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field OR a minimum of 3 years of Industrial Mechanical experience
- A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in Career and Technical Education (Preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to student success and diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Relevant industry experience (Mechanical Systems)
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching or training in a post-secondary or professional setting.
- Experience with online or hybrid teaching modalities.
- Familiarity with current software and technologies used in Mechanical Engineering.
- Industrial Certifications.
- Experience teaching online/hybrid classes.
- Experience teaching online/hybrid classes using Canvas.
- Experience creating a college curriculum.
- Experience developing either industrial or engineering technology lab(s) in a college setting.
- Experience working in diverse multicultural situations

$40 per hour
